What is an ace ring?
An ace ring is a black (or primarily black) ring typically worn on the right middle finger, as a display of asexual pride.
What are the origins of the ace ring?
Like many other asexual symbols, this originated on AVEN as an idea of showing pride. The specific details are not known, but it was decided that a black (for asexuality... like the flag) ring worn on the right middle finger (generally) would be a symbol of asexuality and would help unite aces. It's basically a way of showing pride, and possibly for finding random asexual people on the street.
Where can I find an ace ring?
Amazon has some cheap ones, other places might too. Hematite is popular because it is cheap, however, it breaks easily. A temporary solution that many people use is coating a ring in black nail polish. Other common materials for ace rings are onyx, stainless steel, and tungsten carbide. Some people may elect to make their own, my first ace ring was made of ribbon, though when that started not to work so well, I beaded one.
