Although asexuals never experience sexual attraction, many experience romantic attraction. Romantic attraction is the desire for a romantic relationship with someone. Everyone has a sexual orientation and a romantic orientation. Most people are sexually attracted and romantically attracted to the same people, so their sexual and romantic orientations match. However, some people have different sexual and romantic orientations, so it's possible to be be heterosexual and homoromantic or asexual and biromantic, etc. Some people do not experience any romantic attraction; they are called aromantic.
These are the various romantic orientations:
Aromantic- not romantically attracted to anyone
Heteroromantic- romantically attracted to the opposite gender
Homoromantic- romantically attracted to the same gender
Biromantic- romantically attracted to the two binary genders
Panromantic- romantically attracted to all genders
Polyromantic romantically attracted to multiple, but not all, genders
androromantic: romantically attracted to men or male-presenting people
gyneromantic: romantically attracted to women or female-presenting people
Francie's additions:
Lithromantic- romantically attracted to people, but do not have a desire for such attraction to be reciprocated
Grey-romantic- seldom experiences romantic attraction
Demiromantic- feels romantic attraction only after an emotional connection is established
WTFromantic- falls on the aromantic spectrum, someone feels romantic attraction atypically, but cannot say that they are aromantic or grey-romantic (loosely)
