Most forums have a thread that turns into a general catchup discussion, so here it is. How are you today? What have you been up to?

I had a math test today that I was dreading, but it went pretty well. I also had my first a cappella rehearsal and I had sooooo much fun. Also I had costume measurements for my school play. I'm sooo sleepy though. I'm okay! And you?

That sounds like fun, aside from the math. I miss doing drama-type stuff.
I just returned to roller derby training after 6 weeks on leave, so my leg muscles don't particularly like me at the moment. I think today will probably be mostly sewing and avoiding moving. I found a half finished sewing project from high school, so now I get to work with awesome sparkly fabric that I could only afford back when Mum bought all my fabric for me. Should be fun to work with.

I'm very jealous of your roller derby training. I always wanted to be a part of it, but my town is too small to have a derby. Alas. Plus some knee problems might prevent me from actually skating.
My day was pretty standard. I went to work and financed the heck out of a bank reconciliation. Thrilling! Then I ate a smile cookie from Tim Horton's and told the cashier not to get married. All in all, pretty exciting day. And I had boot camp at lunch, so I probably won't be able to raise my arms above my head tomorrow.

Any sort of pre existing injury could potentially be a problem. A lot of leagues have a huge fitspo culture where it's considered admirable to train injured, or play so hard you end up with broken bones. I have a preexisting hip condition which means this will be my last year skating... I just can't cope with the pressure to be at training on days when I'm in pain and having trouble walking. Hopefully I'll be reffing next year. But yeah, I wouldn't advise getting involved with a league (should you have the chance) unless you know the culture and you know that you won't be under pressure to do things that aren't safe for you. That said, there's always reffing, non skating officials, bench coaches, bench managers, MCs, DJs, jeerleaders, miscellaneous volunteers....
Today was a gardening day. Trying to weed out the baby grass plants and leave the baby onion plants.... not a good combination to try to tell apart. I don't think I pulled too many of the onions. Also.... training. When I don't feel up to doing contact. All Stars vs the rest of the league, so it will be rough. I'm behind on attendance though and I somehow ended up playing a bout next week so I should probably practice. Yeah... don't do derby unless you have a lot of time to commit and a league that counts off-skate roles for attendance.

I've considered volunteering at my local roller derby, but it seems like it can get pretty loud. We have games of humans vs. zombies the same days as roller derby sometimes happens in the same park, and it can interrupt our games pretty badly. I am pretty sensitive to noise so I don't know if I would actually try. I also don't really know much about roller derby beyond "totally cool" and "super rad thing that involves roller skates".
Today I was reading aloud to my father and I shouted my voice out so now I am out one voice. That is okay though, I was expecting it to happen sometime soon. But I have to give a speech in class in a couple of days, and I am not sure how I will manage it. I was out driving today (I do not have my license yet, so it was a Teaching Moment) and somebody honked at me, which was super dumb. Oh well. I am sure tomorrow will be better.

Today I went shopping and got some greattt sweaters and nearly finished a cosplay (all i need left are some black glasses!), went to see a good play with my friend (we got free tickets), wrote a kickass essay, and saw a heartwrenching new episode of Once Upon a Time. A good day.

Today technically has just started for me, as it's a few minutes away from being 2am. However, I've not been to sleep yet, so I guess it still counts. Today started off awesome, then got rocky, then got awesome again. Found out my partner (allosexual) is *finally* coming down for business and it's been a long long long time since we've seen each other due to a few issues. We have a long-distance relationship right now so it's made the things already a bit difficult between us, even more difficult. So, I'm breaking through my agoraphobia in a final desperation to get to see him in a few months. I'm excited - and scared as hell.
Is it weird that even though *I* am Ace, I'm terrified that I won't look sexy enough for him? It seems a bit odd. Lol.
