Hello! I'm unbirthdaydance (I prefer not to use my real name online), and you might also know me from tumblr, since I run an ace blog called house-of-ace. /shameless promotion. I'm 22, biromantic asexual, and non-binary. I'm into a ton of different fandoms since I read and watch lots of things (mostly read since my attention span for videos is limited, haha). Currently I'm following the animes Shingeki no Kyojin and Free! (though I'm woefully behind due to the stress of grad school) and the K-pop band SHINee. (The Star Wars, Katekyou Hitman Reborn!, Harry Potter and Stargate fandoms will always own my soul, though. Especially Star Wars. I own and have read a truly embarrassing amount of Star Wars novels.) I also enjoy reading, writing fanfic I never finish, messing around with tumblr theme codes and am attempting to get into jewelry-making. At some point in my life, I'd love to learn how to cook something more complicated than pasta and eggs, but given the fact that I tend to literally explode water, idk when that will be. I've also got a personal tumblr + a SHINee sideblog and you can find me procrastinating on both places quite frequently. So...hey. :]

Hiya! Another Star Wars fan, I see! Of course, I'm a fan of the original versions myself. They hold so many great memories. Hmm, I was pretty sure I was following your Ace blog from the name, but apparently not. Oh well, I'm following it now!
The only fandoms I really recognized apart from Star Wars is Harry Potter. I'm a teensy bit shelered and picky when it comes to my entertainment. Recently, my best friend has tried to coax me into watching Adventure Time because of Mark Hamill's voice over work - so that's next on my list after I stop bawling over Matt Smith leaving DW.
Stupid sounding me coming out - non-binary? I've seen the term around, and yet have no idea what it means. Could you fill me in? I don't want to smile and nod when I feel it's important to know these things to avoid upsetting anyone. Heh.

Yay, the more Star Wars fans the better! I'm too young to remember the original versions as they first came out, but I've been hooked on the series since my family showed me the films as a kid. Adventure Time is also on my list of 'things to watch eventually' because I've heard good things about the series. I didn't realize Mark Hamill had a voice role in it, though!
Non-binary is like another term for genderqueer, if you've heard that term? It just means someone doesn't identify as either a man or a woman, but as maybe both, neither, somewhere in-between...there are a lot of genders that fall under that umbrella. I personally have a very confusing relationship w/whatever gender I am, so I just use the catch-all term because it's easier, haha.

Ah, yes. I have heard that term before - I didn't know non-binary was just another word for it. I thought perhaps it was a different sort of gender identity that was a different thing to genderqueer. Thank you for explaining though! There's some terms I'm not really knowledgeable about because they way I grew up - it was just something that was rude to ask. I was taught not to discriminate, but that led me to a habit of being too concerned about politeness to ask definitions - no one ever asked. Lol.
I was born in the just after the third original came out - but my mom was a fan, and my much older brother is a bigger fan of it than me. Which is sort of scary. So, I grew up on them as well as a whole lot of Sci-fi and fantasy stuff (including most of the older Doctor Who series) Family of nerds we are. Lol. There's like, 4 writers in my family, brother is the musician and DJ, and I'm kind of a mixture of performer, writer, and dreamer. Strangely, there's no drawers or painters in my family yet...unless I count my partner who only does it as a hobby and long-dead dream of being a comic artist.
And I'm rambling...whoops.

Any kind, really. Musical theatre would be lovely too, but I'd have to go back to voice training for that - it's been a long time. One of my childhood heroes is Michael Crawford, and I grew up on so many musicals I know most of them by heart (I'm typing this while listening to the 1995 film of Bye Bye Birdie) Acting is just something I've dreamed of doing since I was about 3. I thought it was 5, but my my mom tells me I was telling her "actress" even younger than that. Have you been doing some local stuff yourself? There might be some youth theater groups and companies locally. I was looking to joining one here a while back...but the agoraphobia kicked in. Plenty of community theatre groups have musical productions though. Start small, dream big.

I started doing musical theater a little over three years ago, right before I turned 12. I've been singing my whole life and I did dance for four years during elementary school and some summers at various camps. I spent 5 weeks at the summer at musical theater intensive camps this year. I do stuff with my school. I'm gonna do the school musical and straight play and the a cappella choir and next semester I'm going to get dance lessons. I'm looking into places I can perform outside of school (but many of them conflict with Jewish holidays) to get more experience. I'm aiming for Broadway one day. I want to major in musical theater at college and then move to New York.

You're Jewish too!? Awesome! I've yet to meet another Jewish Ace. That sounds incredible with all the work you've put into it. Sadly, I didn't have a lot of opportunities such as all that. I come from really really down the bottom of the poverty line and my parents couldn't afford all the stuff I wanted to do. I did school choir, but that isn't taken very seriously here - it's just seen as a hobby so they don't do anything with them. Did a few church things here and there (despite being Jewish, myself) and dance stuff with very little need for actual dance lessons. And a few plays. I was signed up to an agency a while back...but nothing came of it and my agent was a rude pompous...um, yeah. She wasn't very nice.
Are you aiming for Juilliard too? If I ever get out of this damn house, I'm still going to try and get there again. It's been one of my goals since I was 7.

Yeah, I'm Jewish! I think my school's a cappella choir has won a few awards. It's really good. I got a tour of Juilliard this summer and it seems really great, but I don't want to go there. I don't want to focus on only music or only acting or only dance for four years. I want education in many aspects of theater (and other academic subjects) and I feel Juilliard would be too limiting. I'm looking into colleges with good musical theater programs, though.

Do I even count as Jewish anymore, though? Like belief-wise, I'm agnostic, but due to how I was raised, I'm fairly involved with Jewish culture and stuff. Once I leave the house I'm not going to continue practicing Judaism.
