What is asexuality?Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to peopleAm I asexual?cardhouse.boards.net/thread/6/asexualWhat causes asexuality? Do asexual person suffer from childhood traumas? Are they just in the closet? The answer to the second two questions is quite frankly, No. Asexuality is an orientation just like homosexuality or bisexuality (to name a few). Asexual people do not choose to become asexual, nor is it caused by repressed sexuality from a trauma. Asexuality also has no relation to being closeted, it is an orientation of it's own. In fact, people come out as asexuals. So they can't love?Asexual people are perfectly capable of love, and many even desire romantic relationships. Those that do not are called aromantic asexuals, and they are capable of loving too. Think about your friends, you love all of them, right? Just not romantically. Asexuals (including aromantic asexuals) are perfectly capable of this type of love. Are asexuals elitists that discriminate against people who do experience sexual attraction? No. In fact, many are sex-positive. Some asexuals even engage in sexual activities for a variety of reasons. Those that don't engage in sexual activities still understand that some people desire sex, even though they don't.
